About

On Sunday, September 23, at about 11.30 am, Pastor Bruce Edwards suffered a serious injury while vacationing with his family in Delaware. He was knocked over by a wave and hit his head on the ocean floor. When he was pulled out of the water, he didn’t have a pulse. After CPR his pulse was restored and he was rushed to a hospital in Lewis, Delaware.

At about 3.15 pm, Pastor Bruce was life flighted to a hospital in Philadelphia, where he was diagnosed with an anoxic brain injury, as well as two fractures in his neck.

People all over the country began to pray, and we believe a miracle has begun. On Tuesday, Bruce began taking some spontaneous breaths on his own. Since then thousands of people all over the world have continued praying for complete healing in his brain, neck, and spine.

This blog is dedicated to that miracle. Please feel free to visit, read updates, and post comments to let us know you are praying and to share any encouragement that God puts on your heart. We are reading them to Bruce!

On Saturday, Bruce couldn’t stop talking to our family about the goodness of the Lord. He prophesied that this was going to be a great week for our family, and that it would be punctuated with God’s goodness. We keep reminding ourselves of a specific verse he shared with us while driving to our vacation:

I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord (Psalm 27.13-14)!

    What shock and sadness to hear of Pastor Bruce’s accident, and to learn of his passing. I recall with a smile the big bear hug I received from him at my wedding reception. Though it’s been many, many years since I’ve seen the rest of the Edwards ladies, your family has been in my constant thoughts and prayers these past days. May you ultimately find comfort in knowing that your Dad changed the world for the better.

    Peace, and love to you.

  3. Leah- The whole team at here WORD-FM is praying for your dad and your family. Our prayer warriors are joining you and everyone else in praying for a miracle and for His peace for your family!

    1. To Patty and Family, Our deepest sympathy goes out to you all.

      Words cannot express how devastated we felt when we heard that Bruce had passed away. As the news sinks in, we come to a peaceful understanding. We realize that Bruce has gone home to live in Eternal Glory with his Father in Heaven. A place where no pain or suffering exists, what a Gracious God he is. We should never question God as God is Good and Merciful and he knew what was best for Bruce and your family.

      May God bless and comfort you with the loss your husband and father.

      Yours sincerely, Marianne,Jerry, Leah and Sarah (South Africa)

  10. The Lord Is Able And MOST WILLING
    Matthew 8:3
    3Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

    “What about Bruce, Lord?”

    I believe that the leper who came to Jesus must have asked the same question, “What about me, Lord?” He must have heard or seen from a distance, since he was not permitted to be in public places by the law, how Jesus had healed the sick. So he had no doubt that Jesus could heal him, but he was not sure if Jesus would. He said to Jesus, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” (Matthew 8:2) He was confident of the power of God, but not the love of God for him.

    Like the leper, we don’t have a problem believing that God can give us a miracle, since He is Almighty God. But maybe some of us are wondering if He will do it for Bruce. My friends, let Jesus’ actions and answer to the leper settle this question.

    He stretched forth His hand, touched the leper and said, “I AM WILLING; be cleansed.” And IMMEDIATELY, the leper was healed.

    May this encourage your faith as it did mine. In love and prayer for family and friends. CT

  14. got a very clear message from the Lord to ask all of those praying for Pastor Bruce to say Psalm 91 for him.

    It is so powerful, I do believe that God will fulfill what he declares in it.  We all need to Believe with every part of us that Bruce will have a full recovery, in Jesus Might Name.

    I found Psalm 91 very uplifting when I “Listened” to it this morning. I felt the Power of the Holy Spirit come into me and I am sure that Bruce got a blessing too. The whole experience moved me to tears. Thank You Jesus! Thank you for having Mercy on Bruce and his family and your children at APC.

    1. To Patty and Family, may God fill you all with strength and faith as you walk though this difficult period.

      We only met Bruce two months ago when we arrived from South Africa and he carved a special place in our hearts. We know that he is a fighter, and a believer in Gods abilities. It is faith like this that can move a mountains.

      Jesus loves him and needs him to help the earth, it’s people and his family at APC. I believe he will be restored to good health as there is still so much that God wants him to do.

      Psalm 91 says it all. Best Wishes, Marianne Todd and family

  17. I knew Leah from her days in Children’s Ministry at Northway. Everyone loves Miss Leah. Miss Sue and her family are now living in Santa Cruz, CA. 18. Pastor Bruce has a kind servant’s heart. One of his many passions is to help meet the needs of those less fortunate through the food bank. I met him there when I was in need. And that is only one of his many compassionate projects.

    Because of the kind of man you are, I am believing in this promise of the Lord for you, and your family.

    “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
    to loose the chains of injustice
    and untie the cords of the yoke,
    to set the oppressed free
    and break every yoke?
    Is it not to share your food with the hungry
    and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—
    when you see the naked, to clothe them,
    and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
    Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
    and your healing will quickly appear;
    then your righteousness will go before you,
    and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.
    Then you will call, and the Lord will answer;
    you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.”

    —-Isaiah 58:6-9

    Your righteousness goes before you, my friend.

    Hi Pastor Bruce (Mutabazi),
    It was a pleasure for Frederic and me (Regine) to see you officiating the wedding of Jeneffer and Baudouin in July. You reflected the joy of God and we were blessed by the service. As we pray for you and your family may this song enhance your hope in God:
    1. Be not dismayed whate’er betide,
    God will take care of you;
    beneath his wings of love abide,
    God will take care of you.

    Refrain:
    God will take care of you,
    through every day, o’er all the way;
    he will take care of you,
    God will take care of you.

    2. Through days of toil when heart doth fail,
    God will take care of you;
    when dangers fierce your path assail,
    God will take care of you.
    (Refrain)

    3. All you may need he will provide,
    God will take care of you;
    nothing you ask will be denied,
    God will take care of you.
    (Refrain)

    4. No matter what may be the test,
    God will take care of you;
    lean, weary one, upon his breast,
    God will take care of you.
    (Refrain)

    To Bruce’s family: Frederic and I would like to come and sing for Pastor Bruce some hymnals in Kinyarwanda. Please let us know the room number via my email.
    Hope to see you soon.
    Regine & Frederic Maniraho

  20. As I was praying for Brucee (as I call him at APC), I had a picture of Elijah pouring water over the wood and it filling the trenches up…..I asked what that was about…and very clearly heard that every report from the doctor is “just another jug of water!” So I stand in belief that God is going to do an awesome miracle even though “jugs of water” keep getting added. This is not too difficult for God! Be encouraged. I am a survivor of brain trauma and have had my own miracle from the Lord. I am a walking testimony of his ability and power. Gregg and I stand with you guys in prayer and faith.

  21. Psalms 150:6-Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! In the name of Jesus, the breath of life is in your lungs Bruce. Breath, Bruce! BE Healed, In Jesus name! brain, neck and spine, BE completely healed and strengthened, In Jesus name, Amen!
    Let everything that Has breath praise the Lord! You are in the land of the living, Bruce, praise the Lord!

  22. I have not met you in person Bruce. Maybe someday I will have the fine honor of doing so. But even though we have not met, we are both a member of the same family in one sense..a family of believers! Believers in the one true God, believers in his power over ALL things, believers in his strength in times of weekness and that he alone is the final authority (above statistics, above medical theory). The Lord has placed you upon my heart and I am praying for you…praying for your complete healing, for strength for you and your family, and for a restoration of your health that would amaze all and give glory to God! I think…Mr. Edward’s…that you are on the verge of a miricle!

  23. “No guilt in life, no fear in death
    This is the power of Christ in me
    From a lifes first cry to final breath
    Jesus commands my destiny

    No power of hell, no scheme of man
    Could ever pluck me from His hand
    Til He returns or calls me home
    Here in the power of Christ I stand”

    Mr. Edwards – God blessed you with 4 incredible women to surround you during this difficult time. You are one lucky guy! Praying continually for healing & restoration to your body and abundant peace and comfort for “the girls”, all of whom are so dear to my heart. I know you are smiling inside at the sound of their voices and song. You and your family have been such a blessing and inspiration and will continue to be at the forefront of my thoughts and prayers in the weeks to come.
